Some people who shall remain nameless who view this blog in MN have commented that I haven't posted in a while. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, who could it be............
Well we've been a little busy and I've been a little tired. Gabriel's sleep situation and young life in general have become super difficult in the last few weeks so at night, sleep is the only thing on the menu. On the bright side, we went to a new doctor on Tuesday who ok'd the illegal drugs and the iron shackles so things are looking up. Gabriel is now sleeping (the iron shackles work) so here I am. I'M BACK!
We did a stay-cation for Memorial Day weekend which included a short trip to the beach and boardwalk. See the slide show. Gabriel and Sylvia had fun at the little beach but, alas, Gabriel missed Connor and would have had much more fun if Connor was there. We hope Connor had fun with George down south this past weekend.
So, since I am planning on enjoying Gabriel's new found slumber and I am not planning on celebrating said slumber in front of the computer you can view the slideshow for yourself. The first few pics are of Gabriel and Bryan assembling Gabriel's new bookshelf. Gabriel just loves his drill and hammer. Here's a little story that I thought was just super amusing.
To jump start the holiday weekend, Daddy came home from work and decided we would go out to eat at Moe's. Gabriel was not strapped into a highchair but was sitting in the booth. He ate some chips and then tried to get out of the booth by politely pushing daddy out of the way saying, "move daddy, be right back, honey". (he calls everyone honey now and we can't figure out where that came from) Of course we don't want to let him out because he will run everywhere and then head for the arcade which is right next door and in plain view our booth at Moe's. Gabriel continues to try to squeeze away, move daddy, be right back honey. So I make a joke, where could he be going.....I say yeah, be right back, he's gotta go to the bathroom. Gabriel picks right up on this as his story for why he needs to get out of the booth and says, "move daddy, be right back honey, gotta go to the bathroom". So he squeezes out of the booth and walks towards the bathroom. We do nothing, seeing what will happen. He comes over to me and says, "come on mommy, let's go". So I humor him and I go. He takes me to the bathroom (the door was open, he could see the potty). He actually took me into the bathroom and after playing with the toilet paper actually wanted to sit. As crazy as it was, he sat and told me pee pee would come and God is my witness, he peed for the first time anywhere totally voluntarily and it was on the Moe's potty. It was a very nice and clean potty, I must say. I was totally nuts in the bathroom about it and I thought Daddy would have heard me way out in the booth. We then went out for ice cream.
Of course, today at Target, he flat out refused to use the Target bathroom and insisted on hiding in the toy section to do his stuff. He was crazy with anxiety because everywhere he tried to hide, there was another little boy looking at the toys. Gabriel needs his privacy. Finally he just stood behind me out in the open and pretended to hide. I discovered he is way to big for a baby changing table in the Target ladies room.
Gotta go relax and enjoy Gabriel's new sleeping. However, we are back to no napping, for good I am sure. Oh well, I got used to it before and I will again. Sylvia still naps like a champ.

Looks like you had a nice weekend. I am still a bit confused about the "shackles??" Hope you will tell us more soon!
Nikki,
But you're not confused about the illegal drugs?
LOL... well, I guess that too... LOL
So Gabriel did sleep for a while then back to no sleep. The potty situation was awesome. Kids do the darndest thing. I wonder what Sylvia's surprise will be.
Joys & Blessings,
Lola
I find shackles to be a perfectly good solution! Good job. It's what keeps Amy in line.
I'm glad you guys came over Sunday, it was really nice to see you.
