Disaster: Episode 3

So, on this day we installed the IKEA rail on the day bed. This will solve all of our problems. Hmmmm.....you say. In the middle of the night, Gabriel would not go back to sleep so I decided to sit in the hallway and let him cry it out. I heard a thud and went in. I could not tell what the noise was. I proceeded to place him back in the day bed every time he climbed out. After the third time, the crafty one decided I might not put him in if he CLIMBED UP OVER THE SIDE OF THE CRIB/DAY BED AND ALMOST TOPPLED TO THE FLOOR. Needless to say, we cannot have the crib/day bed thing anymore. I again (alone this time because Bryan went to work), disassembled it and re-adjusted the mattress. We are on the floor again to stay. We will not be assembling the big boy bed until he is used to sleeping on the big boy mattress.

After multiple discussions with Nikki about video baby monitors and one purchase, then a return and then another purchase, we have installed a security surveillance system for our little criminal. It's not a baby monitor but a home/business system with two cameras that hook up to the TV. I love it, it works great. He is sick so I will be sleeping with him part of the time till he gets better, then he really has to be a big boy. We will be watching to make sure he does not do too much damage to himself or property while he makes the transition. FYI, velcro has helped our disaster quite a bit. But that is for a later story. I'll post pics of the criminal surveillance system when I get a chance, it's really cool. We are very tired. This is worse than the thumb treatment and I thought that was hellish. I told Nikki I had made it too hell and I look forward to seeing her there so we may discuss. I guess 90 days to normalcy, Bryan guesses 30 days. I hope he wins.

I feel your pain. This is a really tough thing to go through and unfortunately there is not too much advice people can give you. You just have to figure out what works for you and him. Days are long and nights are longer. I will say that it took Maddie a very long time to adjust too. I do not know how long, but until she was skipping naps bedtime was always a challange for us. So I think that was 1.5 years. I am sorry for the bad news... but you just need to prepare for the worse and hope for the best! GOOD LUCK!!

Good luck! I hope he adjusts quickly for you. I'll go ahead and say that your week has been much worse than my temporary single parenthood!

Bryan and Sandra,

Nicole said it all. Hang in there it will get better. Raising a child is tough for both the child and the parents. I wish we live closer so we could at least give you a few hours break. All these episodes will definitely make you stronger and better parents.

Love,

Lola

Had to return the video system once, seems to be working now. If it stops again, I will take Nikki up on her offer of Jeff's services. It was a little shaky last night but the cameras decided to start working again. Gee, I guess it doesn't matter since I was on the floor with him all night anyway.

Oh, Gabriel has bronchitis now, that really helps the situation a lot. Will you all put me to bed on the floor when I get bronchitis too? I knew you all would.
