Disaster: Episode 4

Through nothing but a miracle, Gabriel slept really well last night on the big boy mattress. Not great but really well and I am taking whatever I can get now.

He refused napping yesterday (again). He was so wiped out that after putting him in the car after Target (I won the fight to strap him in) he fell asleep on the way to the mall. We (Mom and I) felt so bad for the tired little guy we did not go in but waited for a pizza and then drove home with the still sleeping tired little guy.

Unfortuneately this power nap came between 4:30 and 5:30. Hmmmmm, yes, this threw a wrench in an already disasterous bedtime. He would not go to sleep, despite looking exhausted. I decided at just after 8:30PM we needed to do something. In his darkened big boy room he thought it was time to play hide and seek. I decided it was not time to play such a game (especially since I slept in his room for almost the entire night on Thursday night).

Despite the bronchitis, we set up the cameras, removed (yet again) all non essestial items from the room. We closed the door and watched him protest with all his little might on the little criminal's surveillance system. It worked great. He was possessed with the strength, energy and anger of a man twenty times his age for roughly 10 minutes. He would go to the bed and then to the door. We were happy to see that when he was taking a protest break he knows to lay on the bed. In the night vision we watched him lay awake. The night vision is great because his open eyes appear white in the night vision so we could tell when he closed them. He threw some pillows around (which are in there for my own comfort and not his) for a while. He threw himself on top of the pillow nest and rolled around all night on them. He actually rolled off at one time and picked himself right up and went back to the pillow nest.

At about 9:15PM or so he appeared to be sleeping. I was giving the play by play to nikki and amy on the phone. He slept without a peep till 5AM and would not go back until I let him cry again. Then he slept till 7:40AM when Bryan got up with him.

We are still out of Velcro and that is considered an emergecy in this house so I may have to go out and get some before Bryan leaves for Atlantic City.

May the force be with me. (Yes, I slept in all morning and it was great)

I'm so happy to hear that he slept all night for you! And getting to sleep in is always a good thing.
